hi

I wanted to make a svcd of a dvd a friend lent me of ichi the killer itīs a dvd9 asian dvd,so I poped it in my pc dvd and my dvd would not read the dvd proply it would start to rip and it had problems reading the disk. so my friend lent me his sony vio to rip the disk, his player had no problems at all to read the disk, so I just ripped the disk though a network connection.

and no problems it copied the ifo and the vobs, perfectly. then the encoding process began on my pc.

the strange thing is that it stated that it would take more that 16 hours than my usual 7 and the maximum encoding speed was of 0.450 when I usually get up to .800, ??

I thought that it could be my pc and i had to many aplications running so I tried exactly the same settings on an other dvd a normal US Region 1 dvd and everything worked as normal and my speed went back up to .800

so I made the ichi rip again and the encoding speed went back down to .450, so Im back to a 16 hour encode.

is it possible that some dvd encodes are slower that others. ??

ya think? there's a whole slew of variables/factors..check newbie faqs, stickies, etc.

the only thing that should effect your speed is the settings you use...if you're using the same settings then something is probably wrong...the content of the video cannot make it go from 0.8 to 0.45 without using different settings.

For the afforementioned reasons, and the fact that you can easily search and find dozens of topics (including a rather larege topic in the advanced forum) about encoding speed, I'm closing this.
