Do I have to set the Audio Interleaving everytime I split an AVI file with AC3 audio?

ex.

I have a 1200 MB video file, and are multiplexing it with 200 MB of AC3 audio. Then I set the Audio Interleaving value to 64 MS and saves the file as something.avi and close program.

If I then later decide to split the file, do I then have to set Audio Interleaving again, or can I leave it as it is in direct stream?

Something totally different about interleaving: I always saw guides recommending an interleave of 1 frame for muxing, but back in the times when I was using AVI I always used an interleave of 12 frames or so ('bout 500ms) for muxing in MP3s and NEVER experienced any playback problems, but the frame overhead was reduced by a few megs by doing so.

...just a memory from those long gone AVI times ;)
