View Full Version : Batch Encoding in TMPG

I want to convert a series of DV AVI files to MPEG2 with TMPGenc. It has a batch encode procedure which makes this very easy. I just load my saved settings, create and save a series of jobs, choose batch encode, add the jobs, and start. The first completes successfully and the second crashes with "can not open AVI file." However, the program can open the AVI file, at least if I shut TMPG down, restart it, load my saved settings, and load the AVI file and start processing. I am processing 12GB AVI files.

I searched for a trick to get the batch job to work. On TMGP's site, it says a bug in batch processing (associated with using identical settings) was fixed in 2.51 and my version is 2.58, just upgraded to 2.59.

Anyone have help for batch jobs?

Solution: First, create individual jobs for each of the desired actions (set them up and save using file menu). Then, also from File menu, create a batch manager job, importing the created individual jobs. This works for me.

I don't know why the "save as batch job," which seems to create the same set of files, doesn't work. Ditto for batches created with the wizard.
