View Full Version : Pulldownbatchfe and even fields

I have noticed on 3 separate occasions if I use pulldownbatchfe on a 23.97 FPS movie to get it back to 29.97FPS and check off even frames as Bitrate viewer shows the movie being BFF, then the movie is shortened in length considerably.
Example a 37min movie became 30mins, and a 3hr 44min movie was less than 3 hours.
The other options I have checked are

29.97FPS
prog_frames progressive
Drop frame true

If I just use the above 3 options all seems fine, as soon as I include field order even, then the movie length shrinks!
Is it not compatible with one of the above options?

You don't need to check 29.97fps when performing pulldown. prog_frames progressive and drop_frame true are probably a good idea.

Specifying the field order is probably confusing pulldown.exe. Don't. The field order flag is meaningless for a progressive stream.

If you are checking your length using Bitrate Viewer, it does not handle a pulled down video properly. What it does, is give a length that is 4/5's of the original (does this pattern ring a bell?).

If you need this verified, just load your video into an authoring program and look at the length of the video here.
