I think the authors of all this magnificent software should be congratulated on their great ideas and dedication to bringing the user (me and most of the rest of us) a great choice in filters - especially avisynth compatible ones.
But I don't know where to turn! I have followed this forum and several others at doom9 and elsewhere with avid interest... but I'm starting to get overloaded! :confused: There seems too many choices and other than the forums and the readme's a lack of real answers. There are a few very dedicated members (and usually the same ones... you know who you are) that do extensive testing. The rest of us rely on their wisdom to point us in the right direction - but as real progress on the particular filter begins and there is some sort of general consencious a new flavour-of-the-month appears and everyone runs off to test it. We never seem to get a definitive conclusion to the real use of these various filters. I know the rest of us are supposed to make up our own minds by experimentation - I do in the background but my results are mixed at best... yes I've read most of the applicable guides!
I'm pleading with someone to take up the torch to try and make some sort order to all of this. Perhaps some sort of chart that really is a small database that gives the name of the filter, the url to find it (that can sometimes be difficult!), most recent version, where in the Avisynth script it would normally be used, example defaults from the majority of users and the overall use etc. etc. etc... I would love to do it but I just don't know enough to make a meaningful decision.
The challenge, if someone will address it, is to try and put some order into all the hard work of our programmers. I think it would add greatly to the filter use and knowledge and certainly help the rest of us begin using them as they are meant to be.
