Losing sound in tmpeg

Hi All
Heres my problem when i try to take 2 vcd files ie same movie and try to merge and cut them every things works ok but when i play the file back Merged somewhere in the movie theres a high pitch squeel for a fraction of a second and the audio disappers is there a codec missing or should i just reinstall tmpeg
by the way running the latest version of tmpeg 2.5.741
and decoding the dat file thru vcdgear

No, no codec problem. It sounds like there was a corruption withing the audio stream and when you trying to extract and merge the audio stream, it mearly got rid of anything after the corruption. Not sure if there is too many ways to fix this. Might try using TMPGEnc's demuxer and getting the audio stream and sending it through besweet or some other special audio encoder. I don't know much about audio, but that's an idea. Then again, it may do the same thing with the audio when you demux. Then you should try using VirtualDub and extracting to wav. *shrug*

the corruption must be in one of the decoders both vcds are fine audio wise I usually take the dat file and run it thru vcdgear then play it thru media player or windvd to make sure its ok, theres no problem with the seprate files, it seems to be only when i merge them,
anyway I will take your advice and split the audio and see if thats does any good,
I don't think converting the mp2 into wav format will solve the problem but I'm willing to try anything at this point in time. :mad:
