I downloaded an AVi File from the net. it is a good movie and took a long time to get it.. When played.. the video shows but the movie has no sound and the slider is disabled. I have installed the following:

Divx 3.11a to 5.02
SMR patch
AC3 Decoder
Nimo pack Build 8 [newest one] without the ffdShow as it says it will cause problems.
Ogg
XVid, audio..

What can I do I have install a total of 13-15 codecs.. still no go. What can I do ? help. Where can I get the file by itself microsoft media v2 or something... some Microsoft sound codec. Help

Perhaps because there is no audio :D

Download GSpot2 and find out which audio format is used in the movie!

GSpot also shows additional informations (possible errors...) and if the needed codec is installed on your system

Yeah almost all the codecs you mentioned are video and not audio. It is either AC3 of some sort. Or you got gyped with WMAv2 audio.
