View Full Version : Dvd2svcd Error?

Revhead

My first post in a new forum. Always a good feeling.
Having my second crack at converting DVDs to SVCD using DVD2SVCD. First time around I used DVD2AVI and ended up with poor quality image and no sound.
Anyway when I load up DVD2SVCD and hit disc button to load IFO file I get an error message "auth_call.exe generated errors and will be closed by windows..."
Can someone please explain?

Do you have ASPI installed? Have you tried authenticating the dvd? These suggestions may not help you, but if you lean on that search button enough times and go through every post that the search leads you to, the info is in here somewhere. I have had, and still have problems searching, simply because I don't know enough about what I'm doing to enter the proper keyword. Here's a clue.......If you make a post and aren't getting any response, I think it is the moderator's and senior member's way of forcing us to do some critical thinking on our own. It's not because they're being mean, or because we are stupid, and after you poke around in here, you will be amazed at how many times the same questions get asked. If the answers are handed to us everytime with no research effort on our part, we don't really learn. Read, read, read.....
It's kinda like when you're two years old and can't see out of the windows. Just because you can't see it, it doesn't mean the rest of the world isn't out there.

Good luck, and ripp on Ammck55

Thanks for your help. I ignored that error just to see what would happen.
Then I had problems with TMPG (evaluation version had expired) and then I got another error saying it couldn't find the title bitmap?
It's all very frustrating.

The demos should be good for 30 days? I don't know anything about TMPG, as CCE was what I downloaded initially. From what I read in the forums, TMPG may be a more stable encoder, but CCE is waaaay faster.

On the title picture: Go into program files, or where ever you have dvd2svcd filed, open it up and see if you have a Default Title Picture, 240x240 BMP File in there. If that file is missing, you'll have to replace it or reload dvd2svcd. When I first started, I didn't create a directory for the movie files, so it filed them in with all the other d2s files. When I deleted my first movie files, I screwed around and deleted the Default Title Picture file, and got the same result that I think you are getting now. Like a lot of pc issues, sometimes a simple uninstall/reinstall gets you out of the woods. Open up the title picture so you know what you're dealing with. Search out all the guides that are applicable to dvd2svcd. I printed them off and refer to them constantly, they are concise and invaluable to us stoned cold newbies. This might help keep you from getting flamed, or worse, ignored.

Good luck, and ripp on! Ammck55

What did you come up with on the title picture?

Here's the log from my last attempt. What I really need to do is get my TMPG settings right.
I also need to work out how to get all six episodes.
