Hi
I've just started (2 weeks) using dvd2svcd with PAL and (lucky me) mainly interlaced material and here are my opinions:
-Bicubic rules (started using the default simple resize)
-Deinterlace interlaced material, if I keep it interlaced the quality of the image isn't better and with some material I get 'jumps' in the image.
-When doing bellow 45m in a 700M CD the max avg should be increased

My 2 questions:
Why when analyzing the SVCD with Bitrate I always get a peek greater than MAX+Audio?
Is there any 'scientific' way of telling if a DVD is interlaced? (I have seen posted that we shouldn't thrust Bitrate)

A comment about the 1.1.0, the option 'keep interlaced' doesn't always work after saving and loading settings.
Wish for the next build: the ability of splitting the cd's in the end of a chapter (frame selection is OK but that would be better).

Thanks

NaCei

Hello and welcome to this forum.

I'm sorry to say this, but you have violated at least 3 rules with your first post.

Both of your questions has ben asked and answered before, try a search now and you will get your answer.
Also please read the sticky about how to make a good post.

Sorry if I sound rude, but we have some rules here, because of them this forum is better sorted then most of the others (at least in my personal opinion)

Hello,

You don't sound rude, but I have already noticed that sometimes senior members don't accept junior mistaques.
I have searched the forum and for the interlaced question I get undreds of hits, and for the peek 0 until I 'found' It's peak(Also junior in English).
I will try harder next time

Try this (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=37741) and this (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=37310), maybe there is some useful information for you.
The 'cutting by chapter' was asked often and isn't realized (yet?) because there are some difficulties and there is another way to do it: just select the first chapters to do one encode and select the last chapters to do a second encode, so you will have split at chapter points.
To get more details on this short answers try another search, there are some threads about all of this topics.

I have been doing some testing for the interlaced problem and with the preview image in the D2S you can really see if the picture is interlaced (when you find out what you are lookink for...).
About my wish I am now using the following method to split my svcds
with version 1.1, first in the movie lenght session I select the chapters for the first cd and see the time I will have, then I see how many frames it will have, I reselect all the chapters and I select the 'use frame selection' option and when the windows pops up I fine tune the cut point.
Thank's for your help and
Thank you for DVD2SVCD
