I am using DVD2SVCD V1.1.0 build 1. I am using it to make VCD disks as my player can not do SVCD. 10+ hours into the process the program gave an error message and stopped. The message was about a file being used by another process.
I am running a Dell computer 1.69Ghz CPU, 128 meg memory, with 50 gig HD free when I started the rip of Space Cowboys. Norton AV is Off as it caused project file access errors. This is my log file. I did not delete anything, but am not sure if I have anything usable. Any ideas what I may of done wrong?
Thanks!

Harry

It's not a good idea to use spaces or other special characters in the path name. Also long path names are bad as well.
I would get rid of the space and start over since path names are one of the harder things to change when doing a recover. Better just to start over.

That might not be it, but it's the only thing that I can see that looks obvious.

after convertion the pictures, the available space increase:confused:

BicubicResize(480,360,0.0,0.6)
AddBorders(0,60,0,60)

The resizing points to SVCD. I understood from your post you want to make VCD.
Greetings.

Hmm, about the resize and me wanting to only make VCD.
In the misc. tab I selected MPEG-1 and the window title changed to DVD2VCD. That is all I changed as I know that my player will not play the SVCD disks. I did change the bit rate section to reflect I use 700meg CDs and to allow 80 min per CD.
I didn't change anything else, so I do not know why the program seems to be calling the wrong stuff or has spaces in the path. I will try reinstalling DVD2SVCD into a dir so that it is a short path with no spaces.
I have yet to get DVD2SVCD to complete a rip/convert. It did have errors shortly after the ripping process but I read that anti virus programs can cause file access problems to project files, so turning it off fixed that problem.

Thanks for your help,

Harry

I see. Well, you should know that 700 MB CD will take 800 MB video. 1 min CD space in this case will take 10 MB, 80 min CD = 800MB. Therefore in the bitrate tab the CD by default are 800MB. This is very well written in the DVD2SVCD guides.
As for VCD it is even more straightforward. You must have constant bitrate for video (1150 Kbps MPEG-1 352X240) and for audio (224 Kbps mp2). Therefore, the filesize will depend only from movie lenght. This will give you exactly 80 min movie on 80 min CD. On the other hand this will not allow you to redistribute the bites (because the bitrate is constant).
If I was you, I will load VCD NTSC template in TMPG and open the d2v project file and encode with everything set to Automatic and default. Only the audio with BeSweet, 224 Kbps mp2. In fact, you can make also the audio with TMPG, but it will not take ac3 files, I think.
Unfortunately, I didn't use the VCD ability of D2S, and I don't know the details, how to. May be there is something in Q&A.
Hope this helps.
