Hi there,
Big Problem! Everytime I try to recompress or convert the audio into
a CD-acceptable format, Nandub gives me the following reports:
1)"ACM failed to suggest audio compression format"
2) "AVIOutput: The parameter is incorrect"
3) Fmt Tag:0x2000, Sample Freq:48000, Channels:2 , bitrate: 192.kb/s
My File Properties are:
Audio: Unknown Format
Video: 608x320, 16Bit, 25 fps, DivX Codec
DivX 3.11 alpha is installed over DivX 4.02, as well AC3 Audio Filters,
and the Tsunami Filter Pack. Windows Media Player plays the sound
correct.
In Nandub/Audio/Compression only Divx;-Audio is shown but no AC3.
Any attempt to extract the sound with Nandub and save it as
.wav resulted again in Audio:"Unknown Format", or "the File is corrupted"
or "AVIOutputWAV: The Handle is invalid" or "No Sound to be extracted".
GSpot gives me under Audio Format Codec the information :ac3(0x0000)
"Dolby Laboratories,Inc." - "Codec not installed". I tried to find that
Codec but failed.
I think I read almost everything about Nandub but I can't find a way
to convert or extract the sound with that program. I'm trying now for
six month and I think, I almost had it with Nandud!
Please,is there anybody who can help?, to tell me where to find this
missing ac3Codec and under which name.
Thank you in advance. twinsbc

Try GraphEdit.

Choose file->Render File in the menu, and open your AVI.
Now you should see a number of boxes connected with lines.
The first box on the left should be some sort of AVIFILESOURCE (Don't remember the exact name, but the file name of your AVI should also be in there.).
The second box should say Splitter, and have 2 outputs, one video and one marked AC3.
Delete everything that is connected to those two outputs, you won't need them now. Click on a box to select it, and then press delete on your keyboard.
Now choose Graph->Insert Filters->DirectShow Filters. In the list you will find a 'File Writer' filter. Select it and click 'Insert Filter'. You will now be prompted for a output filename.
Connect the splitter's AC3 output to the input of the File Writer. Click the output of the splitter and hold until the mouse pointer reaches the input of the FileWriter.
Pless the play button on the GraphEdit window and a nice AC3 file should be created for you in a short while. After that you can use Besweet or Azid to convert the AC3file to Wav.

You can use AVI-Mux GUI to extract the AC3 stream as an AC3 file. Then, there are enough tools available to process the AC3 file.

alexnoe has the right idea. Use AVIMUX_gui to extract the ac3 then use headac3he to do the processing which will give you a good VBR mp3 (or .wav if u really want it) and do any downmixing/gain controlling/channel muxing/normalizing that you need to do. Use AVIMUX_gui to remux as vDub doesn't like VBR and I don't think Nandub does either. (AVIMUX does file splitting also)
