Hi

I cant make the SPDIF-out stick. I use zoomplayer, but has also tried other players.
I use a SB-live soundcard with the hoontech add-on card(realy great add-on, by the way).
I Use WinDVD 4.0 but have also tried earlier versions, and it is of course the versions that support spdif out. Funny thing is that Spdif-out sticks in winDVD, but not in zoomplayer, mediaplayer and others.
I have tried filters downloaded from doom9, from Tsunami’s and Nimo’s packs.
But I guess nothing is wrong with these filters because SPDIF-out works just great, I just have to manually select it each time I start a movie:(
I have tried it on two different mashines, both with SBlive, and I cant make it stick. I have tried it in both winXP and Win2000.
And of course I have also set HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\InterVideo\WinDVD\Audio to value = 6.
My soundcard is set to digital out, and every sound in windows is actually going out of the spdif. But when I play a movie with AC3, I have to manually select SPDIF-out in the filter, or else I only gets dolby prologic (Stereo send to my Onkyo TX-717).
I use the latest drivers from Creative "Sound Blaster Live! DriverPack - Live! DriverPack 17/07/2002"
I cant figure out what is wrong, anybody got an idea, because I am out of ideas.

Maybe someone can answer me why I need an extra filter from example Tsunami or Nimo, when I have WinDVD installed. I know it is essential in order to make it work, but why. I can see that WinDVD installs iviaudio.ax but I believe that Nimo or Tsunami does that same thing. Am I right? Why do I need them both then?

A bit of discouraging news. I really wanted to have my setup working like what you're trying to get yours to do, but I could never get it to work. the SPDIF-out setting just wouldn't stick. Only in Graph Edit could I get it to function, but never in mplayer2 or the coreplayer. I assume it's just my particular setup that's affected, but with your experience and that of friends, it's obvious we're all doing something collectively wrong.

Maybe this one will work:

Dump the Intervideo filters and use Valex's filter. You won't be sorry;)

I just uninstalled windvd and cyberdvd and installed the filters linked above. Still can't get AC3 to work properly. I did have it working before but I had to reformat the computer. I'm using the onboard audio of my VIA chipset, which is AC97, using the optical output. When I go to the AC3Filter properties in bsplayer it confirms that the audio is in 5.1DD, but I can't get it to output the actual digital signal to the receiver. All it will do it downmix it to 2 channel and play that. Any thoughts on what I should try next?

Brian_92gsr,

Did you try different speaker settings in the speaker application? A couple people have had to set it to mono before the card would pass the proper signal to the amp.

I just got it to work. Had to run the waveout bat file that was included with the filters. Signal is being passed along now.

Just tried out Valex's filter, and it rocks. SPDIF out sticks just fine with this filter, and it sounds great too.
Thanks alot for a great piece of work, and also for the responses.
I am so happy now:D

I've got a weird problem. I've got a Hoontech add-on for a Sblive which has SPDIF and optical out. I use both of these outputs. An DD/DTS receiver is connected to the optical out and Altec Lansing pc speakers with DD decoder are connected to SPDIF out.

With the Windvd filter both outputs work, but with Valex' filter only the optical out seems to work. There is coming some sound from SPDIF out but it's very hickey. I tried both wave and directsound but both doesn't work with SPDIF.

Does anybody got a clue know why?

And i got another question: how can i make valex' filter play .ac3 files?
I can play it by inserting the right filters in Graphedit, but i've got no clue how to save the settings in Graphedit, so that each time i double click and .ac3 file it automaticly plays.
