Chapters - CELLTIMES.TXT ???

I primarily use IfoEdit now to DVDAuthor some of my choice TiVo extracted TyStreams - (vsplit first) to DVD-R

The Problem I've just run into is... I have a 6gig stream, that will create a disc larger than a 4.7 DVD-R. I would love to create a 2 disc set, but Can't because my process never creates chapters just ONEBIG chapter for the whole movie.

I noticed an option to create chapters by providing a file CELLTIMES.TXT ?? Is this a method I can use? I really don't care where the chapters fall. Afew right in the middle would be great for DVDSplit to work with.

Can I just make up a few guesses on this? Is there a CELLTIMES.TXT editor program around?

any help or pointers in any direction would be appricaiated.

GOOGLE returns noting on "celltimes.txt" wow that doesn't happen very often!

hi,

it's just a plain textfile. just write down the frames you want to have a chapter like:
10000
20000
30000
40000
50000

that's all.

Ok, I am about to lose my damn mind!!! I am trying to do this as an interim step to editing a seemingly uneditable TiVo m2v file. Anyway, I have created a celltimes.txt file EXACTLY as it is suggested here but it simply does not work. I am using IFOedit 0.95. It imports the locations just fine but when I build the DVD files, it does NOT put chapters where these cell times are. I've tried it 3 times now just to make sure I wasn't mistyping something and I'm not. What the hell is wrong with this thing?

Ok, I figured out that it doesn't like the "0" my list begins with. Fine. I left it out and chapters are created now. However, they do not line up with the frame numbers that are reported in Vdub. What software can I use to run through the file and note frame numbers? Apparently either Vdub is reporting the frame numbers incorrectly or IFOedit is writing them in the wrong place. Someone let me know what playback software reports the frame numbers that IFOedit sees. Thanks!

If the source is a 23.976 movie that has RFF flags IFOEDIT apparently doesn't count the cells created by the pulldown. Multiply the frame number by .8 and it should fall dead on.

Thanks for the tip, Jdobbs! The mpeg2 video stream was extracted from my TiVo. It is 29.97fps NTSC. I'm still surprised that Vdub would be reporting the frames wrong. I have tried my AVS with and without the decomb filter. Of course, I get different numbers when decimating frames but it didn't make any difference. Either way, when I use those frame numbers in IFOedit, it doesn't place my chapters where I want/need them.

IFOUpdate can do the cell times right.

Just check mark the two IFOedit and IFOedit(film) for
correct times on a NTSC FILM DVD.

Rename the file to just celltimes.txt or ifoedit crashes.

IFOUpdate? Seems like I've heard of that...

Unfortunately it will only create it if you have an IFO as the source -- the TiVo source won't have that...

IFO Update? What's that?? hehehe :) I'm working with a new tool now so hopefully I can eliminate this IFOedit step from the process altogether. These damn TiVo streams are a pain in the ass.
