Running other applications while using CCE

Does anyone know whether while re-encoding a movie with CCE (a multiple VBR encoding)...using other applications or listening to music or what ever else u do...might increase the chances of the movie being encode wrong or in bad quality??...will it effect it at all then beside the factor that it will take longer for it to re-encode.....i am just wondering quality wise whether it would deminish it ..because i was surfing or something???????

I've encoded about 25 DVD's while doing all sorts of stupid things like Internet checkers, email, video editing in premiere, photoshop, etc. It doesn't seem to effect quality just the speed of encoding. If the encoding finishes your set. Once in a while the whole computer will freeze cause i've got so many damn things running but if your just checking email it shouldn't do jack.

If you got enough RAM (256+) and change the Process priority for all used programs to: Idle (in Misc. tab) you shouldn't have any problems.
I've never have had any problems while encoding, mostly I only surf and stuff but it works perfectly.

If we cut out the reason why CCE got crashed by those wrong setting or combination of softwares, the only chances of getting crashed is from other softwares or OS itself. Some website having incompleted scripts may affect your browsers and asking to debug or something. If it really can't handle, it may shut down itself automatically. This may cause resource problems afterward.

If you're running Windows 95, 98 or ME, you might not want to take a risk because it's not stable as other versions. IMO, I don't run any other softwares at all. I just encode the movie in the morning and leave home, and when I come back, it's all finished. And it doesn't bother my CPU by slowing it down while I'm making the menu and further other process.
