Star Wars EP2

This has multiple angles at the start (scrolling text in different languages). I'm trying to strip the angles and keep just 1 but the option is greyed out so I can't select this. I'm doing the stripping within DVD-Decrypter but would prefer to do it within IFOedit. I'm using the latest version if that matters but I have the same problem with .94 as well.

Any ideas ???

This movie is a mother to split, be warned...

Forget about IFOEdit stripping out the multiangles, try using DVD-Decrypt or SmartRipper, both of these are established at doing this type of stuff...

I used dvd-decrypter to strip and leave angle 1 only. I modifed the VIDEO_TS.ifo file using IFO-edit and changed the number of angles to 1. When I playback the movie it 'sticks' at the end of the 1st chapter (which is where the multi-angle part was) on my Denon 2800. It plays ok on my PS2 and it totally hangs at that part when played on my PC using Power DVD.

I think I need to do my digging around as this is my 1st experience with multi-angle rips. If this is a tricky films to rip does anyone have a guide or any more information ?

Try SmartRipper, this is the only one that worked for me.

Dont know why it only plays the first chapter, you should'nt have to modify the video_ts.ifo, this may be the reason why you can only chapter one. Let SmartRipper do the angle capturing etc..

Mancubas: Would you oblige us in sharing the step by step in how you split it?

I just received my copy, don't know why Amazon took so long (but I digress) but I have been trying to split it and no cigar. I encounter the same issues with the beginning of the movie as mentioned above.

It sounds like you were able to do it successfully. I would highly appreciate it before I turn it over the wolves (my kids) and they tear it up playing it 10 times a day....LOL

Hmmmm. Star Wars EP2, R1. I had to use an earlier version of IFOEdit (Because I run XP SP1) Just a simple strip of angle 1, and a reencode.....

Will do it (as soon as I get it) the same way I did with EP1 which has also multi angle for text scroll intro and credits.

Full rip, IfoEdit strip of the angle I do not want, then normal Scenarist+CCE+Ifoupdate process (just you have also to reencode Bonus to fit everything on one DVDR)

And I agree with Mancubas, not the easiest one if you want a 1:1 copy with menu and bonus.

I use smartripper to remove the first angle (wich is english for me) and to take only second angle (wich is italian for me). All work ok except that when i rempeged the VOB the first 60 sec (the ex multiangle section)seems very choppy and blocky.
Any solution ?

PS the problem of "greyed" strip angle in ifoedit working only in early version, use 094 or 0932 and work all okkey.

Just A suggestion, use Vob Edit to demux the last vob into cells & delete the last couple of cells.

suggest you play the cells with a player before deleting..!

You can save 200MB+ worth of end credits.

Encode @4400.00 Kbps MAX (CQ_VRB 45% awesome) 1 disk

To the guys having problems with angles, Only select the angle you what at ripping time.

Personally I hate that annoying camera popping up on the screen all the time...........!

If you Re-Encode it will........! 4480MB with 6ch .ac3

I suggest you use #1-TMPGEnc or CCE.

Re-Mpeg-2 is slower & does not do well on scenes with low Light! in fact it’s terrible.......

If your trying to keep the original files give it up it’s over 2GB to big.

TIP: ONLY KEEP THE AUDIO THAT IS PART OF THE MAIN MOVIE..........!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

additional audio files add up fast....

Thx for the advise with TMPGenc, encoding for me is a big no no, I only have single disk and single processor, and not enough patience..

My next upgrade will be either RAID or Dual Processor, this is when I shall start re-encoding etc etc...

For Crow: Can you explain me how is CEE processing step ?
I use single pass VBR, set min bitrate to 0 and max to 9800. I have a file that is too small (1,8GB). Now I must make second pass and set in avarege bitrate 4480 ? Is this the right way ?
And another question, why I don't use directly the second pass VBR with settin of avarege to 4480 ? Is needed the first one pass VBR ?

Its extremely annoying that it'll play fine in Ifoedit and in PowerDVD but in my Sony set top player, I keep getting C13 errors!! argh!
I ripped the files using file mode in dvd decryptor.
I'm going to try ripping them using IFO mode and choosing angle 1 this time.

I noticed if i pop the dvd-r in, and quickly cycle to chapter 4 or 5, it plays ok after that...so the problem is in chapters 1-3...it starts playing chapter 2 and boom, goes to a c 13 error

OMFG, i'm really annoyed at this star wars II disk.
I stripped the entire movie. I first used DVD decryptor to exctract angle 1. I then used ifoedit and told it to only take angle 1.
it stripped the movie and then I used dvdsplit to split it into two.

It plays fine in IFOEDIT and it plays fine in PowerDVD, so I burned a DVD-R.

It plays fine in my DVD-ROM drive.

I pop it in my sony set top player, and the piece of crap just sits there at chapter 1. it doesn't even show the black screen (20th century) or anything!!! what the hell??

I have not had a chance to do EP2, but EP1 worked fine when I used SmartRipper to extract angle 1, has anybody tried this app yet, if not, WHY?

I didnt' have any problems splitting and ripping Episode 1. There's something different about episode 2.

I've now gone ahead and used dvd2avi to demux the ac3 file.
then I used it to pass the video to tmpgenc so I could renecode the m2v file.Then I used spruceup to generate a new video-ts folder.
we'll see if this works.

The only thing I don't like about this method is that sometimes the audio gets out of sync for some reason. I never figured out why, but its extremely annoying when the audio loses sync.

I use CQ_VRB mode.....!

(MIN 0) change the MAX 9800 to (Max 4400) & the quality side bar to 45%

I don’t use second pass at all..............!!!!!!

@atreides93 : C13 error is related to a bad burning. I know, I have a sony :-)

Try another media (even if you know this brand well, you perfectly know there are lots of internal "cuisine" with brand, advinfo, A to C quality etc.., or try another burning tool. I personnaly suggest using Imgtool last version and its burning capabilities.

DVD burning tool's choice really change standalone compability.

No problems with Episode 2 here...Used smartripper to HD, then used ifo 094 to Strip streams, angles, and split.

I kept English 5.1 AC-3, and english subs. Also stripped out angles (kept Angle 1)

The only thing I don't have is "Commentary" when I select it from the Audio menu. Can't figure out why.

Kept full menu and had Disc 2 start at the movie.

BTW, tested the DVD on SONY standalones, no problems.

bah i've given up on it for now.
I got part 1 by decoding the video and rencoding it using tmpgencode then I used spruceup.

Part 2 I got using dvdsplit :) what a mess..
