Hi Guys.
First and formost, I would like to thx all of your guys in this forum, and specially to Derrow, Nic... You're the best of the best.
Just sort of a feeback, and sharing ( that's a spirit of this forum).I would like to post my way (not perfect yet, but it will be... after some of the guru's helping me out).
Here are the basic steps:
1) Ripping full DVD to HDD with DVDDecrypter <- great program.
2) Create tmpg template of each VOB with IfoEdit88.
To do this you have to rename working VOB -> VTS_01_1.VOB. Rename or move VOB if needed, so there is no consecutive VOB like 1, 2, 3...
3) Fortunately most of the VOBs of LOTR 99% film. create D2V file with DVD2AVI with force film option. Just Video there is no need to demux/extract audio.
4) Using IfoEdit 9x or Bitrate calculator to figure out the bitrate needed
5) Encode D2V files with TMPG. Using batch mode
MPEG2, 2 pass with bitrate at 2500. 16/9 ratio (being report by ifoedit). Set GOP per tmpg template per step 2. You will see the D2V missing couples frame compare to tmpg template.
This happens because there is a litle bit of NTSC type mixed within Film type. This thing cause A/V out of sync if you combine all of VOB and encode at once...
Just imagine this: each VOB miss...say 6 frames, then 7 VOBs, there you go, 42 frame is not acounted for, this result A/V out of sync gradualy worst as the movie play along.
6) Create new VOB files by Remux your m2v file with original VOB by using Rempeg Tools function. At the end result You should have 7 remuxed VOBs but the size is much less then 1GB.
7) Combine ripped files at step1 and Remuxed VOB at step 6 into a folder. This to folder size should fit DVD-R
8) Run IfoEdit open the IFO (the movie)on the folder at step 7.
Use VOB extra function but do not remove any stream.... IFOEdit will re-stack all of remuxed VOB to become 1GB zise. After that get VTS sector.
9) Using your favorite software and burn DVD.
You would have a perfect DVD5 with all function, menu... just like DVD-9.
I did 2 DVD already.
Remember this procedure only work on NTSC DVD with Film type upto 99%.
If there is a hybrid VOB... We are stuck...unless someone like NIC or nay DVD2AVI gurus can make this program spit out D2V exactly like Ifoedit see.
It means DVD2AVI save a D2V file as hybrid as VOB does. It switches mode from/to Force Film to/from None, base on what it see (as you can see thru a static window). I think this function is do-able because DVD2AVI 1.86 does have a log allow you to see at what frame video stream is Film or NTSC.
With mod as above... There is no need for any expensive authouring software...and complex process of back-up DVD.
