Ok i have tried to use rempeg on my smartripped M2V file i set the scale to 80% which i think is lowering the total size of the normal file by 20% but when i hit encode it doesnt even move i let it set there for an hour and it wasnt even 1% when i try to cancel it said transcoding in progress.

Have you ever done this before? What kind of system do you have? Try ripping a M2V file of only 1 chapter in smartripper and see how long that takes to re-encode. On my P4 1.5GHZ it takes around 8 hours to complete a 2 hour movie, so if you have like a celeron 400 or something it could take nearly forever for it to finish. But an hour and not even 1%, is this percisely timed or a slight exaggeration?

i have a P4 2.4 Ghz cpu with 512 DDR and i think it was roughly an hour with no percentage gain.im not sure if i was using ReMpeg correctly but by my common sense wisdom i was lol.set the bar to 80% wich would re encode the file 20% less than it was before.

Should be fine with that speed. Are you sure you followed the guide 100% match source and set resolution to the right setting? Also did you ever run rempeg successfully b4? also try to rip the one chapter m2v in smartripper and wait and see if that finishes. Maybe it's running and the bar just isn't moving for some reason. If so one chapter should take under an hour. Worth a shot at least.
