Is such a thing possible, and with what software package?
Sorry if this is a dup thread, didn't have much time before work
Using nero and easy cd it wotn burn "vcd" onto a dvd-r, says wrogn media type, if i use mydvd it up converts the vcd mpegs to double the size mpeg2, any ideas?
i think it did that cus of the audio, i hear my dvd doesn;t do mp2 audio just pcm
what i ant to do is burn 10 episodes of a tv series encoded as vcd mepg 1 onto a single dvd r disk for playback in a set top box. Do i have any options here?
Drive is the new sony 500 a if it matters

well it helps a little bit, i guess the main thing is to get the streams complaint as mv1 and mp2 then in that format i cna do a dvd and add them to mydvd that way enstead fo addign the mpg and having it convert internally which is where the larger files stem. It's still going to convert it to pcm i think though, but i'll still get more eps then i am now on a single dvd.

vcdhelp 's vcd->dvd has a link to the trial, which i have not sucessfully acticated uet *and due to forum rules couldn;t help you with that even if i did :-)*
I'm about ready to scream though, thsi isn;t as simple as it is made to sound, so far followign the guides exactly, it's still making my dvd compatable mv1's 420 meg files jump up to 800 meg,
At that size i coudl just use MyDVD which si the best program i've used so far, both spruceup and dvditPE are difficult to make good menu's easily, neither keeps the mpegs the correct file size, and are very fussy abotu the formats, 2 mpegs, exact same format, one works in dvdit but nto spruce up, the other works in spruce but not dvdit.
the oen that doesn;t work in dvdit after "processing" WILL work when i import the muxed version *which i'm trying to avoid so it wont convert the audio)
i want to fit 10 episodes ~ 420 meg each @! 40 minutes vcd mpeg 1 352x240 224 kb/s 48 kz audio to a single 4.7 gig dvd disc in a format playable on my set top box and have menu buttens to link to the individual episodes....is that so much to ask?
If it's this hard to do this, god onyl knows whats invovled re-authering a dvd. It's defiantly the software., i dotn even know if my drive is any good or not cus i haven;t had an opertunity to burn anything....so far onyl way i've got it to work is by burnign a dvd rom with teh 10 mpeg files.

Well the extra size is definatly comming form the audio size looking at the output from the program the pcm audio tracks for these mepgs are 440 meg a peice, which expllaisn the double in size. Now i expect thsi frm mydvd, dvdit is suposed to 1) suport mpa, and if ti does convert it there is an option for dolby digital, maybe i need to change that PRIOR to adding the files, hmmm.

Finally soem sucess, it seams the fiels it does suport *and is pretty sensitve to stream errors* Spruceup does keep the audio mp2 and saves em 400 meg an ep
