4 megs over the limit ughhhh

i reencoded the movie heat with cce and after authoring in maestro ifoedit tells me im 4 megs over the limit and i already pulled out all the subtitles,extra languages stripped all the vob ids except the movie, is there any way to just cut off a few seconds maybe of the credits? there is a warner bros logo in the begining but its part of the movie vobid. or am i just stuck and have to rencode at an even lower bitrate ?thanks

what if i cut a some of the sound off the ac3 file at the end during the credits? is that possible and if so what program edits ac3 files?

you can use vobsplit found here on doom9 to cut out the credits. or you could change the bitrate of the audio. I always check the chapter selection page of a dvd beofre I rip it to see if the credits start right at a chapter point. If it does, then in smartripper under chapters I deselect the credits chapter. For ex. if the credits are chapter 12 then in the smartripper movie mode screen right to the right of the angle you select is the chapters, uncheck chapter 12. Sometimes there will be a chapter after that, uncheck that one too ex. chapter 13. I always do this if I am close to the reencoding size. Use ac3machine and Besweet to downsize the ac3 file. Guides are here on doom for that too. I find these two solutions keep me from re-encoding almost half of what I would have b4. If you get stuck just let me know... Hope this helps

if you do that, then part of the clip will have no audio, which will cause the problem mentioned in this thread:

(note it will only be a problem on the pc, but fast silent credits might be what you're after anyway ;))

Why don't you re-encode the .AC3 file to a lower bitrate? You probably have 384kbps but you could easily live with half that. In fact, you could probably not notice the quality loss at bitrates as low as 128kbps.

If it gives you the error of the last frame but says you can continue, then go ahead and ignore. I get this alot with using ac3machine and Maestro. If not Exactly what is the error in MAestro?

If you continue problems with Maestro. Then compile the dvdvolume and cut the last MOVIE vob so that the end credits are gone. This is a slight learning curve, but once you get it it is DEFINIELY the easiest way to cut out such a small file size. And no sync problems :)

yeah just use DVTool to cut the last .vob and dont forget to do 'get vts sectors' ifoedit afterward.

dvd maniac i downloaded that dv tool but when i take try to cut 4 megs off the vob file it gives me an error code 553648128. do you know where i can find out what that means? i attached a picture but its not showing up for some reason even though it says its attached

I am sorry but I haven't used this proggy, I use Vobsplit. It seems a little simpler to use...
But it looks like a corrupt frame in the vob or something. Sorry I couldn't be more help on this. I reccomend to try vobsplit and see if that works better for you.

It is very easy to learn.
Just open the vob file in your software dvd player and see how far, for example in powerDVD see the yellow timeline that grows as it plays? just see approximately how far down the line it goes when credits start. If it's about 2/3 then cut off 1/3 off the file in vobsplit. if it's off a little then just adjust a little. Simple... But the EASIEST way to cut out credits is this: If I am doing a dvd that I think, or know is going to need reencoding then I open in powerdvd and check the scene selection page. If the credits start at a chapter point like say chapter 15 then in smartripper just uncheck the chapter when ripping it(only in movie mode)... Bingo. Most DVD's have the end credits at a chapter point so try this out. If you have anymore questions on this topic then let me know...

OH OK THAT CHAPTER THING IN SMARTRIPPER SOUNDS LIKE ANOTHER ALTERNATIVE, THE ONLY THING IS THAT WITH THIS MOVIE IS ITS ALREADY ON THE HARD DRIVE, RIPPED AND REENCODED BUT ILL TRY THAT VOBSPLIT AND LET YOU KNOW, THANKS FOR THE HELP

If using Maestro, just slide the end of the video from the end to the left till the credits start. Then right click on the audio and do a sync to video track.

yeah i got everything working now, the only thing givng me a lil headache still is getting the correct bit rate for cce i keep ending up just over 4 gb im using dvd calculator
