Are they all created equal? Someone mentioned good success with the "G03" Riteks from hypermicro.com I've not seen any other stores specifically mention that as part of their Ritek part #, is that assumed? Are all Riteks the same or are these different? I got some of these and am quite happy with the quality so far. Are Riteks from other places going to all be the same, namely something like this?

At ~0.83 each and fairly good settop player compatibility I like them (the ones I got from hypermicro.com that is). What's better at a similar price?
Thanks!

No, unfortunetly you really can't tell the generation number (what the G means in G3) without the vendor posting it, or using something like ADVDinfo after receiving them. I would hope any vendor selling Ritek's today are selling the G3's, but unless they post it on their site, you really can't be sure.
I've buy my Ritek's at Shop4Tech and they are G3's. For 100, they come to $.89 with free shipping.

There seems to be some new media out nowadays.. Wonder about this gold colored (top) Ritek media from Meritline?

Also they are offering some Samsung media now and in the specs it says PS2 compatible, is that uncommon for other media?

Any good source for Amaray 2-disc keep cases? The ones that are regular thickness, not thick as 2 cases in one.
Thanks...

there are different riteks. I've tried several kinds, the G01 came with gold tops and deep purple bottoms or gold tops and lavender bottoms both came in spindles of 100. The G03's I saw in 2 flavors, silver tops deep purple bottoms in spindles of 100 and their new packaging - gold matte tops with 2x and dvd-r logo stamped on the disc, deep purple bottoms. Those come in little cake boxes of 25.
Both G03 flavors burn at 2x although not 100% reliably. I've burned several hundred of them and sometimes I get macroblocks/sync errors during the movie or some chapters freeze. I still record them at 1x if I intent to keep the copy for myself.
Just in case anyone is interested I'm using 2 x DVR-104's with stock 1.31 f/w and one DVR-A03 w/ Gradius 1.68 (2x4all)
