View Full Version : Problem with the picture quality

I don't know how to explain this, so look at the pictures.
The first one shows how the movie from D2S looks. The colours are weird and the resolution seemes lower then it's supposed to.
The second one shows how the movie was supposed to look.

http://www.stratyon.com/stuff/2.jpg
It looks a bit like it was ripped with lower colour resolution then it's supposed to.
Anyone knows why it's like this? D2S worked fine before and I've ripped entire movies without any problems but now even the movies that worked before gets like this. Did I trip a setting I shouldn't have or something?

It doesn't seem that terribly bad. Remember you are dropping the bitrate by 3/4.

However try these things.

Raise you Min bitrate to 800 on this movie.
Drop your Image Quality Priority to 20.
Try using Bicubic resize instead of simple.

Give those settings a try.

Trying to encode with those settings changed and with just parts of them changed made no difference. Here's the current log:

I've also tried reinstalling the entire program with no change...
This is so confusing... :-(
Oh and it is pretty bad. The "correct" picture was taken from a DivX rip I did from the same DVD for a different reason, and so isn't as high quality as the original DVD, and the SVCD should be as good.
But it wouldn't be that bad if it weren't for the colours...

May sound crazy, but try not de-interlacing it.
You may also want to try TMPG instead of CCE for this one.

Lastly if you feel like playing get Donald Grafts Tweak filter for Avisynth. I use it all the time and it's great. It allows you to asjust the hue, saturation, tint and a bunch of other settings.

It might just be one of those DVD's that is very hard to convert to SVCD.

i had worse results using cce with two different laptop processors.

I don't have the problem with TMPGEnc, but the quality I get from it is not as good as I originally got from CCE
