Wanted to reduce the final size of the vobs, so movie will fit on single dvr.
Vobs only 4.39 Gigs so I just remuxed one cell.

Demuxed 1 of the vobs fine with VOBEDIT.
Transcoded 1 of the cells fine @ 80% with REMPEG.
remuxed it back with VOBEDIT.
Rejoined the cells with VOBEDIT.
The new Vob plays fine.
Put it into video folder replacing the old vob.
Get VTS sectors with IFOEDIT.
DVD Playback WITH IFOEDIT dodgy. Chokes if you fastforward near the transcoded part. Also says non-valid dvd volume when you press dvd play in IFOEDIT.

Is REMPEG unreliable?
Would I be better off trying tmpeg?

If you are doing movie only: have you cut out the credits? Also I ran into a similair problem and transcoded the audio bitrate down and waalaa, perfect size... I have a decent surround system and Audio isn't the most important thing to me so I didn't mind, ANYTHING to save from re-encoding...

Good Idea, can't wait to get movie off my hard drive. Only about 30 megs over 4.35 gigs when I remove end credits. How did you transcode the audio? (Just point me in the best direction for this)
Thanks.

You can find it on the Doom9 download page. ver 0.41.
You can either just change the bitrate down, I use 128kb or if it is 5.1 channel and you don't use 5.1, then convert too 2/0 stereo. Just click lfe to lr and set channel mode to stereo. This usually cuts the audio file down about 1/2 size from most original dvd's.
