question about installing a codec

Hi, maybe someone noticed that i have build a decoder pack which includes all important decoder at the time. Now i want to integrate the coders to, so here's my question: Do i only have to copy the codec dll in the system directory and add the fourcc code and the file to the system.ini like that: vidc.xvid=xvid.dll,
or must i write some registry stuff and define there the fourcc too?
