how to make ffdshow play divx3 content?

I've searched for this, but didn't find what I was looking for... So...

I'm having hard time making ffdshow playing DIVX3. To be honest - I don't know what to do. I have Divx5.02 PRO installed and I'm really happy encoding with this. Decoding is another story... smooth playback gave me s**t many times, so I disabled it. That was the first time I thought about trying different decoder. FFDSHOW works great with my divx5 rips, but when I play e.g. Sum Of All Fears (3.11 SBC I guess) Divx5 is decoding it. How do I know?-bsplayer shows me...:(
I would like to try decoding Divx3 through FFDSHOW (tried the configuration menu of course, but it didn't give me any results, it's like Windows just ommits FFDSHOW and plays divx3 movies through Divx5).
Any HELP, suggestions appreciated.

hi, normally you must check div3 and div4 in the ffdshow configuration menu in the codec section, but if this didnt work, you can check here, how to tell the divx 5 decoder not to play divx 311 content: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=19404
or you can also unregister the divx 5 decoder, if you won't play divx 5 content with the divx 5 decoder. To do this try the following command in your msdos prompt:

under win98:

your windows directory\system\regsvr32 /u divxdec.ax

under win2k or winxp oe winnt:

your windows directory\system32\regsvr /u divxdec.ax

example:

c:\windows\system\regsvr32 /u divxdec.ax
