View Full Version : How do I use the "external" vstrip?

Hello,

I have had problems ripping the german version of "Enemy at the gates". The decryptionkey for this DVD seems to be extremely nasty, and the only way I found to rip it was the gui version of vstrip. DVD2SVCD would choke with a never-ending "analysing video, please wait".

However, vstrip does not seem to create a .ifo-file, so I found it impossible to use the ripped data in DVD2SVCD whose open-dialog demands a .ifo-file.

It's probably a simple thing, but I have not found it myself. Using the internal ripping with vstrip will not help because the analysation function seems to work with the internal routine in any case.

Bye,

Detlev

On some very rare DVD's it has been noticed that it can take forever to analyze the video, but it does seem to finish. It can take up to an hour.
You may also want to try and get the RC4 version of DVD2SVCD linked in the Help thread of the advanced forum.

Have you authenticated the DVD in PowerDVD or WinDVD before you tried to rip it?

Yes, I have authenticated the DVD with PowerDVD 4.0 as usual, and DVD2SVCD has had about 2 hours at the longest attempt before I closed it.

I believe the problem to be key-related, because vstrip and Smartripper both have problems to find the correct key; Smartripper fails after appx. 5 minutes, vstrip will find it after a very long time. I should have mentioned that before.

In the meantime I was lucky with DVD2SVCDs internal routine: After the xxth try, it would analyse the video in just a few seconds, and is now converting.

However, I find the question as how to use the results from vstrip in DVD2SVCD interesting, because vstrip is the only recommended external ripper.
