Cuting Credit Video but not Sound?

I just borrowed a VCD from a friend. He downloaded it from the Net. The VCD had an interesting Bug, which could be called a feature indeed. The Video went only a few seconds into the ccredits, then it froze. The Sound Track went on to the end. Come to think about it, this would be a nice idea for SVCDs too. I don't read credits, but sometimes the Music is a nice chillout from the movie.

Probably could be done by muxing the full audio track with a trunctuated video track. Would this be interesting for others too?

It is interesting. Like you, I rarely (if ever) pay any attention to credits, but I don't like to have an abrupt stop after a movie (especially a solemn movie), without what you call a "chillout" :) The music would fit this bill nicely. However, I don't think it would be possible for the video to be shorter than the audio, and still play correctly (though I could be wrong, I suppose). So the video would still need to be the same length as with the credits, but likely replaced with a black screen. This would also save valuable bits, since we know that black area takes very few bits.

However, I think it would be rather complicated to implement into DVD2SVCD, so I wouldn't count on such a feature in this release, perhaps 1 or 2 releases down the road, if at all.

Thoughts DVD2SVCD?

I know this is a really old thread, but I thought I would add my experience.

I don't ususally watch credits but sometimes like to know who was in a film so don't like to cut them. For experiment I used Stickboys "ApplyEvery" Avisynth plug-in (thanks AS!) to freeze one frame of the credits every four seconds (and replace the rest of the four seconds with the frozen frame). This should hopefully save some bitrate for the main movie as less changes need to be encoded. I couldn't work out what benefit you actually got though.

The credits jerked along and the soundtrack seemed OK. Works for me.
