Sorry if this has been asked before but I'm having a bit of trouble with my new Pioneer DVDR-A04.

I have taken a 5.5GB film and run it through the usual software (dvd drcypt.ifoedit etc) to end up with a film with is 3.9GB in size. I am using the DVD-RW disc that came with the writer (1x I think)

When I use Nero (various versions 5.5.8.x onwards) it starts burning and then its justs stops. The light is still on the writer but all other activity has just hung. I can click on abort writing but can not close nero and usually have to reboot. It stops writing at after about 15-20mins - doesnt seem any pattern to it. There are no error messages or anything.

I then tried Prassi 2.0. Prassi gives me the option to test before burning (Nero's option was greyed out) but at various stages the test fails with the error "Bufferruns - followed by some code which according to the error tables means 'invalid address for write incremental'"

The DVD writer has the latest firmware and my system is 1400Athlon,winxp home and 512mb ram, asus a7m266 motherboard with amd760 chipset. I have tried Auto insert on and off and have tried changing DMA to PIO and back again and everything I can think of but Nero and Prassi just will not burn it. Prassi just gives the same error code and Nero just stops responding after several minutes. I also have latest aspi drivers.

I have followed the tutorials fairly closely to strip the movie down to just movie and sound.

The stripped movie plays fine on the computer - PowerDVD

So I'm at a bit of a loss as to how to proceed. I have slipstream version of WinXP/SP1 so was thinking of formatting and putting back WinXP without the SP1 to see if that helps.

Could it be a duff DVD-RW (Pioneer) disk. I'm dreading its a duff writer.

Any thoughts/ideas? Would be most grateful if you could help me get this working.

Regards

Steve
