I've just flashed my pioneer 103 with the 1.90 upgrade and none of my blanks will work? at x1 or x2 in prassi or nero..in nero it says burner power calibration error and in prassi some kind of read error with lots of numbers. I can't downgrade the firmware as it's the newest...please help..I need it back urgently..thx
Also pioneer blanks won't work either, the only discs that will are my dvd-rw's..please help someone or is my 103 for the skip?
Hold the bus guys, it's suddenly started working again.
I put a cdr in and went to nero to test if I could burn a music cd and it did' went back to prassi and tried a bulkpaq dvdr at x2 and it worked, could the cdr burn have recalibrated the burner?? I'll keep you posted...great
THe latest is no such luck,I get the odd burn that works but 99.9% of the time it just says read error..
I've followed the threads re: backflshing to an earlier version but all confusing to me and some info appears to conflict..even in faq's section.. please please please can someone out there post a reply on a idiots guide to writing over v1.90 to v1.68 or earlier

1. turn of DMA on you A03 if you don't know how ssearch the forum ;)
2. try to burn at 1x !! not 2x and do it in primo not nero.
bulkcrap sucks (some people got good discs some people- me & bunch of others got BAD discs), don't use it for now, try to use Pioneer or some other quality media for now, so you can isolate the problem and say ok it's not the media.

Do you get the same error in Prassi if you do a test only?
I just recently had a problem with my A03. Had been working for months with no problem. Then, just yesterday, it would go from burn ready (yellow lights) to trying to read (green flashing) during the burn. Did this even in Test only. Got a similar message to what you are seeing.
I have to swap the A03 with my DVD-ROM (swapped which IDE they were attached to). Bingo, I'm up. May not be your situation, but thought I'd throw it out there.

you have 5 cd or dvd devices and 4 HDs, 4 of them on IDE rest on SCSI if I'm getting this right and A03 as secondary master, hmm.... should work.
Did you change your configuration in any way recently, add or swap disk drive, cd-rom, dvd ?

did you add anything other to the computer, how strong is your power supply, those 7 devices can be as much as 150W alone, add AMD at 50-70W, MB 30W, VGA ? depends.....
I have AMD XP 2000+, Geforce 4Ti, DVD-ROM, DVD-R, CD-R, 2x IBM 45GB RAID, GB 7VRXP, Firewire card and this setup would not work on few 300W power supplys I tested, eventualy got 360W.
If your power supply is bellow 400W I would try to turn of unnecesary drives and try to burn again.
Well ??

Took the thing to bits, breathed lightly on laser and touched clean with a cotton ear bud (un-used), rebuilt.
Princo at x2 nope..
Pioneer at x2 yep..
bulkpaq at x2 yep 3 times now..
All tests done on dma mode in prassi with x2 selected manually...wot do you think..ps currently using all h/ware as was and I'm burning to a bulkpaq as I write this..fingers crossed maybe a sliht bit of dirt on lense or just fiddling with its power supply..duno

I would never think of that :)

Well m8ty's 2 days gone now and still no coasters at x2..
I can only think that because burning at x2 takes/needs more power from the lense that my nicoteen (spelling) from my dreaded cigs put a light film on the laser AnD the fact that I never noticed because it has been some months since that I burned at x2 (cost of pioneer blanks)what to say that x2 may not have worked even before the 1.90 upgrade?
Who Knows? Other theorys accepted..greatfully..but heh food for thought if it happens to anyone else..cheers:)
