Just thought I should let you know, so other people don't have the same problem that I'm having. I'm running Win XP Pro w/ SP1. I've never had any trouble with Avisynth and CCE 2.50 before. However, today I decided (stupid me...) to upgrade to the release candidate of Windows Media Player 9 (version 9.00.00.2926). Now, whenever I try to use an AVS file in CCE, it says: "AVIFileOpen(filename): Unknown error". I tried opening an AVS in WMP 6.4 and it says that the file cannot be found. I'm pretty sure that installing the WMP 9 RC broke everything. Interestingly, I didn't have any problems with the WMP 9 Beta version. I've also tried reinstalling Avisynth, no luck there. Well, if you've got any ideas I'd love to hear them, but I'm pretty it's this WMP 9 crap that screwed up everything.

BaH!... your lucky. I never even got CCE 2.50 to work with XP itself. Let alone XP and SP1 and wm9beta. Time to reformat. Go put 2000 to save some headache like I did.

Well, I'm hoping there's a different solution... I don't think it's a problem with CCE itself, because the Avisynth files don't work in Media Player 9 or 6.4 either. I've also tried reinstalling Win XP w/SP1 and that got me back to Media Player 8, but Avisynth still doesn't work. Not sure what to do...

Okay, well, I feel really stupid now... Of course, I never thought to check the most basic thing: Avisynth.dll somehow or another vanished from my System32 folder! So, anyways, I put it back and it works now. Stupid me!
