View Full Version : Instant CD/DVD problem - file size

I have VOB Instant CD/DVD and have followed the wizard to burn my ripped files etc to a DVD-RW. I select UDF DVD, no joliet etc like the various howto's say and I drop and drag every folder into place.

So far no problem. When I click on 'Write' a window pops up saying recording track 1 of 1, 1024mb and will take about 15mins.
However the folder quite clearly contains 4 or 5 VOB plus a few other files which in total comes to just over 4gb in size.

It will burn successfully but will not let me browse the dvd when finished.

Has anyone else had this problem and/or perhaps know what I'm doing wrong?

I cant use Nero as it just stops burning/responding half way through. Primo usually fails the test and syas theres buffer underruns even though the writer (Pioneer A04) claims to have protection in that area.

At a bit of a loss. Any help would be most appreciated.

Thanks

Steve

Have you tried making an image and burning with dvddecrypter?

No I hadnt tried but was thinking about it. But I thought you could only do that with DVD decryptor if the dvd is a dvd-5.

Doesnt dvd-9 need to be ripped, authored etc down so that it will fit onto a 4.7gb disk. If so, how do i create an image with dvd decryptor afterwards.

Thanks

I think what gooki is suggesting is you take a DVD-5 ISO image (or an image you've built with something like IfoEdit) and try burning it with DVDdecypter (in ISO write mode). That's pretty much the simpliest type of test.

Ok tried it but dvd-5 movie ended up with a file size of greater than that of the dvd-rw?

I thought dvd-5 movies were single layered and supposed to fit and that it was dvd-9 dvd's that had to be worked on in order to fit standard dvd-rw?

Getting a bit confused here I think.

Firmware is 1.33. Aspi 4.72. Winxp sp1. Heard rumours 80pin cable can cause problems - any truth to this?

Its odd because I have another ripped/ifo'ed movie (dvd - dual layered) and that works ok everytime I try it. Always shows correct filesize when burning with instant cd/dvd and always burns correctly and plays perfectly on computer and standalone.

But if I then try to do this other movie using exactly the same settings, even though it shows several vob files etc and 4.1gb in total size, when it goes to burn it says 1024mb.

Not sure if perhaps the authoring etc has gone awol and Instant cd/dvd is getting confused somehow. Not sure if this is possible.

I meant load up infoedit and make a image file from your ripped video_ts folder.

tried that. It says it cant imglib.dll

Have tried a few versions of ifoedit and they all say the same thing.
