Hi,
Right now I have a rather tricky setup regarding my tv-out. I have a small 1 metre composite (rca) video cable going from my graphics card to my vcr, which then transfers the signal through a standard aerial cable (RF?). This aerial cable is about 10 metres long, to go across the landing and into my bedroom to the tv.

How much quality I am loosing through this method? I'm thinking of extened the composite cable (and audio cables) and just connecting them to my tv. However, everywhere I look on the net for composite cable the prices are really expensive for such long cable (about £5 per metre). Is there anywhere that can supply it at a cheap price? If not, is it still worth investing in for the quality increase from the aerial cable?

I'm thinking of building cheap second pc and just having that in my room to save the fuss with the cables, but it's not very practical at the moment...
Thanks,
BluDChyLD

Hello

I don't know if this is going to help you or not, but you can give it a try.

I do a lot of video capture and encoding from my VCR to my computer, at first, the quality of the video was ugly using coaxial cable, I went to Radio Shack and purchased a couple of Gold Video/Audio cables and the quality increased amazingly, the only problem I encountered was finding a jack connector adapter to plug the Audio into my TV card.

Perhaps you should consider getting a signal amplifier that sits between your VCR and the TV, also try replacing the aerial cable with one shielded to protect the signal of external noise sources.

P.S.
I am not trying to be cheap, quality requires some money expenses

There's no getting around it, cables matter for quality. It really depends what quality TV you have. I have a 50 in plasma, so I spent upwards of $500 on cables. For very good cables try bettercables.com; for good cables bluejeanscable.com; for decent ones pacificcable.com. Dunno if the latter two ship overseas though.
