I used TMPGenc to make the MPG file.
Then I burnt it with Nero , SVCD/NTSC.
The only problem is
The mpg that TMPGenc put out, jerks every once in a while, even before I burnt it to the CD
DOes anyone know what's wrong?
I haven't hit the 2600 or whatever bandwidth limit it is, I'm not even close!

What was your source? What was your settings? What was the framerate of the source? What program did you use to watch the SVCD with? All is needed to understand what is wrong.

The source is a divx movie that I made myself, it is error free.
The framerate of the source is 23.976
I used my DVD player and WinDVD to watch the movie.
I used bitratecalc and it looks like it peaks WAY over 2700kbits/s in some spots, so I changed my setting in TMPGenc to reflect that of the bitrate ceiling.
I believe that's why. I used CCE SP to encode my other SVCD's and don't have , but when I used bitrate calc to check those files out, they peaked around 2900.
Both files peak around 2900 - 3000 (which is way too high), but only the TMPGenc encoded file seems defunct.
I'm re-encoding right now with TMPGenc with some new settings and I'll see what happens. If you can offer any help I'd greatly appreciate it.

what about when you play other mpeg2/svcd files? If 50% of them also jerky then it is possible that your MM/DS archtecture was not ok. Mostly only a newly installed OS(format c: first) can help.

no.
All my other SVCD's work perfectly fine

It looks that problem is with framerate. 23.976 is not correct value for SVCD framerate.
You need to perform 3:2 pulldown in TMPGEnc to get 29.97 fps.

The 3:2 pulldown is already done.
It plays back fine, It shows the time fine, the DVD player plays it fine.
But it jerks in some spots for no reason.
Like I said, I ran bitrate calc, and it shows the bitrate going over 3000 in spots, and I am using a max of 2496 in TMPGenc, but somehow it just won't stay there. I've already compensated for the audio stream at 224, but I don't get it.
This is giving me a lot of trouble. I like to use TMPG because of it's motion quality search, but I'm getting so fed up I think I'll go to CCE and get a file that is jerk free and takes 6 hours less to encode.

I've concluded for me.
That TMPGenc works best for me when I have a file that is not a correct aspect ratio and in PAL.
I encoded one file with 512x304 at 25fps Just fine.
But for anything NTSC or normal AR, I'm going to use CCE and save me time, and get a better result in the end.
If I COULD get TMPG to work properly with most my files, then I would aregue they both have pretty much the same quality , given that they are properly set up.

Well, if you are having a problem with max bitrate, you could lower that in TMPGEnc's settings.

I lowered them
but they still spike over 3000.
CCE does it too.
I guess my problem isn't the bitrate spike because CCE files play smoothly and TMPGenc ones don't
