I am trying to re-encode some m2v files to a lower bitrate and author them in Sonic Scenarist.
I know the DVD specification for the maximum video bitrate is 9.8 Mbits/sec, so I set the "max" bitrate to 8.9Mbits/sec(including the 384Kbits/sec AC3 audio it is well inside that).
But, the problem lies in the "peak" bitrate result (around 20Mbits/sec.), in which Scenarist spits it out reporting that the combined bitrate is too high.
I have tried multiple combinations of setting, but the only way to get the peak bitrate below the maximum allowed, is to set the "average" bitrate to minimum but obviously the finished result is woahful.
Is there a way around this?
I've also tried TMPGenc which produces files that are legal, but it seems to shave frames off the end of the final m2v files (probably due to the re-arraging of the GOP structure) and I get a movie with 2 or 3 minutes missing at the end.
