I've made a movie using DVD2SVCD and used mpeg 5.1 setting for audio. After finishing, I've found no sound at all using Windows Media Player or Power DVD. Do I have to install a filter for this player or there is no chance to use PC to play the movie and enjoy a pmeg 5.1 sound?

Thanks for your help!

I kinda wish this option didn't exist because the benefit is to less than 1% of users I'm guessing. Only 2 or 3 dvd players support this. The best option would be the new Dolby Pro Logic Surround II option for most users if they want surround sound.

Regardless, you did use i-author to mux it I assume.

I recently encoded a movie using 5.1 sound, but the final product had no sound whatsoever. I re-encoded the whole thing starting at the audio processing, and the movie came through ok. Retry your process, and see if that helps?

Thanks. How can I process only the audio? Is there any chance to do this using DVD2SVCD?

I recovered from a crash using DVD2SVCD, the option is there under the "misc" tab. Unfortunately, I don't know how to stop the darn thing after restarting just the audio part, so I just let it go and redo everything else after that. Almost like doing the whole process over again.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Thanks. One more question: How can I test the audio files. Simply, using any video player?

To see if they have audio, media player will play the mp2's, but that does not assure it will work in your DVD player.

I used WIN DVD to test out my audio files, to make sure that they ripped properly.

So, my problem is complicated. I've set the audio to stereo and the mp2 audio segment still silent. I've reinstalled an older version of DVD2SVCD and the stereo sound was perfect. After uninstallation and reinstallation the new DVD2SVCD version stereo works OK but I have the same problem with the mpeg5.1 generated mp2 audio file, no sound. I think, I shall make it manually. Let see.

Do you mean there is no sound when played in your DVD player?

I'm willing to bet your player just doesn't support it, as most do not.

The player I've tried: Power DVD XP-4, Win DVD 3.1
Although the stereo sound is there but it is too low. Using DVD2SVCD 1.07 the sound is fine.

Why are you using such an old release?
We are up to 1.09.B3.
There is even a beta of 1.10 floating around.
If you tried to create the mpeg sound with an old version then try again with the current one, but keep in mind that very few DVD players actually play this.

Thanks for your note.I've used 1.09.B3 to make mpeg5.sound. I've turned to an old version to compare the sound ripping.
Could you name some PC players do support mpeg5.1 sound?
Thanks for your help!
An other possible solution for my problem format c: because we are talking about a MS win2000 based system installed about 1 year ago.

If you are having such problems then just go with Surround2 like was said before. I did a direct compare between Surround2 and Mpeg 5.1 and I could not notice any difference. If you need confirmation just find an older thread about 5.1 and I say the exact same thing there.

I just tried my first SVCD with mpeg5.1 sound. The movie I used was Jet Li - The One. The sound worked great on my 2 channel system, worked great on my buddies surround sound system. His reciever even identified the audio stream as a "Prologic DVD". The problem is that the sound quit with 19 minutes remaining on the second disc! I initially tested the disc's by playing the first few minutes then cleaned up all the files from the conversion. I am currently redoing the conversion to see if the problem is reproducable. If the problem re-occurs, who should I send what files to?
