View Full Version : "RichEdit line insertion error." when submuxing subtitles

When submuxing the subtitles, I get
"RichEdit line insertion error."
WinSubMux repeatedly stops after about 853, 855, 858 subs.
Tried restarting the project, to no avail.
The audio submuxes previous appear to be complete and working.
The ripped subtitle images appear to be all there and present, but of course the submuxed output is useless, because the program fails.
I am ripping three streams of subtitles,
with the last official release I had this problem (when it ripped each stream individually)
and with the current beta (simultaneous submuxing) it stops around the same number of subs.
Makes me wonder, Is this a memory management issue, perhaps?

I had the same problem when doing exactly the same thing, and the problem happened exactly at the same 855 position. Can somebody help?

i wonder if it is hitting in the max bitrate... dont think so, but to make sure please make a test with only 2 streams of subs and reply back ( never had this prob and i use 4 streams ;) )
whitch version of winsubmux are you using ?
, it should be the same provided in the bundle .

What did you mean by 2 streams? Which part did you refer to?
I used the bundled in 1.09 build 3 so I supposed it was the one everybody else was using.
Thanks for your reply.
PS. If you meant how many languages I tried to do the subtitles, I only did English nothing else.

Upgrade to the latest version of dvd2svcd see if that fixed your prob.

Well, I upgraded, and this time the operation seemed to finish successfully. However, when I play the video in Power DVD XP, there are no subtitles displayed, and I don't seem to be able to select them, the option is greyed out. And strangely, I have 4 CD images, but the second two appear to be duplicates of the first. They are in fact, slightly different in file size though. Does PowerDVD have issues with subtitles on SVCD?

Q&A: No known software players support neither SVCD nor CVD subtitles.

I am having the exact same problem as stated in the first thread.
I am using the latest version of DVD2SVCD (DVD2SVCD ver. 1.1.0 Build 1).
I have tried this ripping PAL DVD's and NTSC DVD's - also letterboxed and full screen but get the same problem when ripping subtitles.
I rip in Standard CVD - selectable subtitles using the default bundle programs (WinSub Mux).
The encoder I use is CCE 2.5
Settings : Multi-pass VBR - 5, Image Priority - 17, Anti-noise 2. Bias - 20.
I have also ripped SVCD's in Proggressive and Interlaces frame but it dosn't make a difference, the muxing of the subtitles are halted at around the 800 mark.
Can someone help me?
Soulutions, Work Arounds????

I got your same problem... and I presume you guys are still using Windows 98.
I noticed that if you have more than 850-860 subtitles to insert WinSubMux is not able to handle them in its buffer but this only happens in Windows 98SE (at least on my PC), sometimes if you want to encode just one subtitle stream you end up fine but if you put another stream you probably end up with an error...
I solved this problem switching to Windows XP, I even used the recover function of DVD2SVCD on my dual-boot system since I didn't want to loose my 16 hrs encoding :) and it worked just fine on XP (well, I had to tweak the files a little bit since on Win98SE the ripped stuff was on my H: drive and on WinXP they were on the I: drive but I managed to fix them all)
So if you wanna add subtitles or at least more than 1 stream, is better if you do it in WinXP environment using XP I was able to have a 4 stream subtitles muxing w/o any problems!!
See ya,
