I'm using Gordian Knot, latest version with all the patches on it.
By default, when I install it, Gordian knot installs also the DivX codec 3 and 4. I install them, follow the instructions and everything works fine.
After that, I install the codec version 5 (DivX 5.0.2 bundle), to make the divx using the new codec.

THE PROBLEM:
Everything works fine on the compressing side, but when I try to watch the movies all the players around (BSplayer, Microsoft Media player, etc) just let me listen to the audio. No video at all.
The only player that works is The Playa alpha (which has soo many problems though..)

If I uninstall the divx 4 codec I can use the players without any problem.. but at that point Gordian Knot doesn't work anymore (I have errors using VirtualDub)

The same situation on Win2000 and WinXP.

Any suggestion??

Yes, remove ALL codecs, reinstall GKnot WITHOUT DivX4: choose custom install and remove DivX4 from the list. then install DivX5. Oh yes, and get the new version of AVIsynth (2.06) at the same time.

I have installed div5 codec only now and just ripped the Lord of the Rings without any problem.. I can see my .avi with any player now...
