This may be in the wrong forum. But I am trying to figure what makes some DVDs good rips for VCDs and others not. Is there a program that can tell you if the dvd is a quality dvd, before waisting your time trying to make a decent mpeg ?

Why don't you just encode a little bit of the DVD first to see what the quality is like?
