View Full Version : Reverse engineering SVCDs files

Does anyone know of a software which can "reverse engineer" the files in the SVCD directories.

My problem is that I have a player which freezes when playing SVCDs which have chapters (SVCD created by DVD2SVCD) - but only on some discs. On other discs with chapters it seems to be OK. Not having created the disc myself, I was wondering whether there is any way of finding out (from the files) what the chapters are in the disc that work and the one that does not ie spot the difference and avoid it in future.

I have confirmed that it is not the actual mpg file because I have used Nero to create another SVCD disc from the same mpg file - which plays properly in my player (the problematic one was burnt using a cue/bin file created by DVD2SVCD)

Any help or ideas will be appreciated

I should also mention that the problematic disc plays fine on my other players

use VCDDEBUG.EXE. You can find this tool into the same folder of vcdimager. Open a command prompt, go to the correct folder and type
vcddebug --help.

with vcddebug you may get some info of the svcd, but you can do nothing to solve the play back problem.(for example?)

With a new firmware or new player you may solve the problem forever.

come on boy... should you be so obnoxious:rolleyes:

vcddebug can show ALL info about both svcd`s. All that zur want to know is the diference between them, which makes one work and the other no. So, vcddebug can do a lot to solve the playback problem, and its price is ZERO. Do you know where one can buy a new player with this price;)

come on baby... you are so nasty, repulsive and disgusting!

The statement in my past post was "with vcddebug you may get some info of the svcd, but you can do nothing to solve the play back problem.(for example?)"

You see I've pointed out that you may get some diffrence btw. the svcds. But my questions was, what you can do with such info(namely with examples)? Possible examples hwo to solve the playback problems! If you've understood that questtion, you should not reply with invective(and do with possible examples). But perhaps you have such a lower IQ and didn't understand it. In this case I'll forgive you.
