Hello to everyone,
TMPGEnc does work great and I don't have any choppy audio/video.
Already had done this, but was forgotten the steps.
Also solved transcoding artifacts, witch was a stupis mistake from my side.
Gonna explain everthing in very simple steps.
Maybe to simple for most 'veteran' user overhere, but I would also like to
give to more un-experienced users a chance to try this out.
Have done with this method:
- Back to the future 1/2 and 3.
First of all what you need:
1. DVD Decrypter 3.1.3.0
2. DVD2AVI 1.77.3
3. Ifoedit 0.94
4. Bitrate Viewer (only the calculator in this proggie).
5. DVD writing program (I use Nero latest version).
Directory creation:
- Make the following directory's: Temp/Temp2 and Temp3
Make in the directory Temp3 another directory: VIDEO_TS
DVD Decrypter:
- Start DVD Decrypter and insert your DVD.
- Under the 'MODE' tab select 'IFO'
- In the screen right you will see the time of the movie.
Write this time down and round it up to above.
Example: Back To The Future 1 is 1:51:16 mins -> 1:52:00
Recalculate this to mins: 1:52:00 = 112 mins.
Did this wrong the first time, made it 111 and ended up just 45 MB over the
magic 4500 MB border.
You will need this value later with Bitrate Viewer calculator so write it down !
- Now in DVD Decrypter under the tab 'MODE' select 'FILE'.
- Make all the files in the right screen blue using 'CTRL-A'.
This effective decrypts the whole movie to your HD.
- Let DVD Decrypter do it's work and grab a beer or a cup of coffee.
- DO NOT USE 'STREAM PROCESSING'!!
- When done, close DVD Decrypter and start DVD2AVI.
DVD2AVI:
- Select 'File' and select 'Open'.
- Select the first .VOB from the main movie files in the directory were you decrypted
Back to the future to.
- A new screen will open with all the 6 .VOB files, and the last one (Nr. 6) is already
blue, don't select anything, just press the 'OK' button.
- Select the tab 'Video' and go to 'YUV -> RGB' and select 'TV Scale'.
- When done, press the 'F5' key and watch the new screen that will open next to the
main screen from DVD2AVI and let it play for about 30 seconds then press 'ESC' top stop.
In the right screen the properties are displayed - WRITE THE TOP 4 DOWN ON A NOTE.
At this point a made a big mistake in the past -> I didn't write those values down.
In case of Back to the future 1 the top 4 values are:
- Apect Ratio 16:9
- Frame Rate 25.000
- Video Type: PAL
- Frame Type: Progressive
The last one is very importand !!!
Because PAL Progressive is a NON-INTERLACED movie and the default setting in TMPGEnc
is INTERLACED !
- Go to the tab 'File' and select 'Save Project'.
Fill in BTTF1.d2v (Back to the future 1) and store this file in the Temp directory.
When done close DVD2AVI and start Ifoedit 0.94.
Ifoedit:
- Load the .IFO file from the main movie files from the directory where you decrypted
BTTF1 to.
- When done press the button 'Create Tmpg T. button.
- Select directory Temp again and save this file also under the name BTTF1.txt
- Press 'Save' and the next screen will appear where only the 'I Frames' are selected.
Don't change anything, just press 'OK'
- Ifoedit now starts to analyse all the ORIGINAL VOB's and after 2% press 'Cancel'
- A new screen will open and here you have to select a GOP key.
- DO NOT SELECT THE FIRST ONE THAT STARTS WITH 'IP', but the thrid or second with starts with
'IB'.
- Press 'OK' and now Ifoedit will create a template for you witch will be stored in your
Temp directory.
- When done, close Ifoedit and start Bitrate Viewer.
Bitrate Viewer:
- Press in top left corner the tab 'Bps calc'
- A screen will open, then press the tab: VIDEO LENGHT
- Select 'Full D1 Pal 720*576
- In Video Lenght (Red letters) click up to 112 mins (you wrote that down from DVD Decrypter).
- Leave 'Audio Bitrate' at 224
- Num of subtitles: 1
- Media Type: RVR-R/RW/RAM 4.7GB (It takes incount 4700-200 for TOC so you will have 4.5 GB
for your movie so don't change anything).
- Number of discs: 1
- In the top right corner a value in a black square will apprear: 5167
Write this down.
- After that close Bitrate Viewer and start TMPGCalc.
TMPGEnc:
- Make sure that in the right bottom corner 'Es (Video Only)' is selected.
- Press 'Browse' button for the 'Video source:' and select the BTTF1.d2v file in the Temp
directory.
- Press 'Browse' button for the 'Output file name' and save the file as BTTF1.m2v also in
the Temp Directory.
- Press in the right bottom corner 'Setting'
- Select the 'Video' tab and make the following settings:
-- Stream Type: MPEG-2 Video
-- Size: 720 x 576
-- Aspect Ratio: 16:9 Display
-- Rate Control Mode: Automatic VBR (CQ_VBR) and press the 'Setting' button to enter the Bitrate.
-- Enter here under 'Maximun Bitrate': 5167 (Value you got from Bitrate Viewer and leave
Minimum Bitrate: 0
-- Also select here Image Quality: Highest(100)
-- Press 'OK'
-- Profile & Level: Main Profile & Main Level (MP@ML)
-- Video format: PAL
-- Encode Mode: Non-Interlace (Remember the video artifacts, this is beauce the default setting is
'Interlace' so TMPGEnc will encode a movie that is Non-Interlace to Interlace and guess what will
happen -> Yep artifacts).
-- YUV format: 4:2:0
-- DC component precision: 10 bits
-- Motion search presision: Highest (Very Slow)
- Now press the 'Advanced' tab and make the following settings:
-- Video source type: Non interlace (progressive) - This you got from DVD2AVI and wrote down.
-- Field oreder: Bottom field first (field B)
-- Source aspect ratio: 16:9 625 line (PAL)
-- Video arrange Method: Full screen (keep aspect ratio)
- Now press the 'GOP Structure' tab and do the following:
-- Tick (place a black 'v' with the mouse) in 'Force picture type setting'
-- Then next to that press the button 'setting' and a new screen will open.
-- Press the 'Load' button and open the BTTF1.txt in your Temp directory and press OK.
Now is seems that your computer freezes but just let in go it will come back !'
-- Press in the right bottom corner: 'OK'
- Now press the 'Quantize matix' tab.
-- Tick: Output YUV data as Basic YCbCr not CCIR601
-- Press 'OK'
Back in the main screen, press start and go to sleep or make a very long night.
Your .m2v file will be created for re-mux later and this takes a very long time.
On my AMD Athlon XP 2000 between 10-12 Hours.
When the encoding process is done (100%) close TMPGEnc and fire up Ifoedit 0.94.
Ifoedit:
- Open the ORIGINAL .IFO file from the main movie files in the directory where you decrypted BTTF1
to.
- Select the tab 'VOB Extras' and select 'Remux .m2v'
- In the next screen tick: Rebuild PTS (needed for CCE and TmpegEnc etc)
- Un-Tick (or de-select): Autocopy Menu Files to destination
- Select the BTTF1.m2v file in you Temp directory and select as Destination directory TEMP2
Now let Ifoedit do it's thing.
When done, close Ifoedit en go to the Temp directory and delete everything, EXEPT the .VOB file.
Start Ifoedit again and press in the main screen: Create Ifo's.
Select the first .VOB in you Temp2 directory (the one you just remuxed) and let Ifoedit do it's thing.
After the creation, load the VIDEO_TS.IFO from the temp2 directory and press the button 'Get VTS Sectors'
After this you can watch you movie with Power DVD and you will see it's running ok.
NOTE: The above steps will put a lot of strain on you HD(s) and they will become quite hot.
So, the video may not be running smoothly at this point, but give the HD(s) some minutes to cool down.
But now, all the files in the temp2 are to big to fit on a single DVD-R.
Start up Ifoedit again.
Load the ORIGINAL .IFO from the movie and look at what position your audio and subtitle is and
write this down.
Because of the remux this info is gone.
After that, load the main .IFO from your TEMP directory and select the tab 'VOB EXTRA'S'
Select 'Strip Streams' and select the audio and subtile you wrote down and select as output
directory: Temp3\VIDEO_TS
Let Ifoedit do it's thing and after that, delete everything in the Temp3\VIDEO_TS directory and
again EXCEPT the .VOB files.
Recreate Ifo's for the Temp3\VIDEO_TS and after that load the new .IFO from the main movie files
and press the button 'GET VTS SECTORS'
If you now look at the total size of all the files in the Temp3\VIDEO_TS you will see that it will
just fit nicely on a single DVD-R.
What's left -> write it to a DVD-R or if you want to try first to a DVD-R/RW.
Done very, very much reading the past 4 weeks on the Internet (sometimes 8 hours a day) to figure it
out.
But a big thank to the Doom9 Basics and Guidelines and VCDHELP.COM I finaly came up with the solution
as I describeb above.
I do not exactly know, some settings for NTSC but maybe someone else can write that in a replay to this
topic.
The choppy audio/video occurs when you remux from a stream processed DVD movie !
Also already did Beverly Hills Cop 1/2 and 3 with great result.
