Buffer underrun?

I've been wrestling with this problem for a couple of weeks now. Whenever I try to burn AUDIO_TS & VIDEO_TS to a DVD+R or DVD+RW with any burning application on my HP200i, I get an error message saying the disc is scratched or dirty. HP tech support says this is because of a buffer underrun. It's like the software doesn't even try to burn the disc. As soon as it starts to read the VIDEO_TS directory, it errors out. I've got DMA enabled, and I've tried slowing the write speed. Anyone out there that can help?

If it hasn't even started writing to the disc it can't be a buffer underrun error. My recomendations, get into the habbit of using the disc image/image tool in info edit and see how that goes.

Try another burning tool to see if you get an error also.

If yes, grab a Norton Ghost do an image of your system, and install a fresh windows plus only the burning tool. And try.

if not working, you should test your burner on another PC, and at this stage you can begin to think your drive is damaged.

I have burned image files to disc, but they won't play on my stand alone JVC xv-523gd player. I'm beginning to think that there is something wrong in the ripping process. I can use Recordnow Max to burn AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS if I uncheck "Recognize AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS" under data disc, but the disc won't play on the stand alone, even though I burned discs that will play when I first got the burner. It looks like the different burning programs see something wrong in the structure of the files after ripping. I use Smartripper and have no trouble ripping a dvd. Could there be an option in the setup of Smartripper that would prevent Nero, etc. from burning the disc? Thanks for the replies.
