Permanent Subtitle slightly flickering

I have just burnt a SVCD with permanent subtitle. When I play it in a standalone (SVCD Compitable) DVD player, the subtitle flickers slightly, I wonder if the problem is due to the DVD Player, the TV or the SVCD? Could anyone please tell me how to determine the source of the problem?

I suppose, you have a 50Hz TV, and if you watch movie in high contrast, you will have 'slight flickering'

Try changing subs colour pallete to gray( not default white ) - it helped me. Or just buy 100Hz TV;)

I think you are right. Maybe this is my TV's problem since my subtitle is already gray, but my TV is quite old -- almost 5 years old.
