well recently my comp has been freezing up when trying to rip dvds.it usually happens when cce is running.what happens is either cce stops running(it doesnt crash but just stops moving)or my whole computer restars for no reason.i ran Memtest 86 like suggested in the faq but that that didnt help.
some computer info
AMD Athlon 1800 1.5 GHz
512mb
os-windows xp
cce version is 2.50
just recently this has started to happen.it seems to do it one just about every movie i try.what can i do about this?

CCE stopping is a common issue. It is considered the crash. Most times CCE doesn't outright crash, but freeze.
Your computer freezing could be related as CCE takes up many resources and might be hogging the system when it freezes.
Get and run the Prime95 torture test. If you can run that for 24 hours without a problem then chances are it's not a hardware issue.
If you can run the Prime95 torture test then I suggest a search for CCE freeze or crash since this has been covered in great detail.
If you can't then you have a hardware issue that needs to be resolved and this is not the best forum for such info.
I will bet it's a hardware issue. If you are overclocking then step it back down. Heat is one of many known causes.
CCE is among the most stressful things you will ever do to that computer.

For your problem with Prime95 you are probably better off posting in a computer forum like http://forums.anandtech.com or www.amdmb.com .
It really sounds like a hardware issue, but until you can get Prime95 running it will be hard to tell.
You may also want to do a google search on Prime95 to see if they have a support page.

Have you tried TMPGenc instead of CCE? Does that help, or not help?
