i have a dvd to produce with some material which has quite a lot of pans / truck shots also has some Xfades.

not the ideal source for mpeg encoding since the compression noise goes up in these regions

CCE allows I frame insertion which should certainly improve matters in these regions, however I dont have much time to experiment

so my question is has ne1 experimented and can advise on a good strategy for I frame insertion with some settings I could try?

thx

the auto insert I frame setting in CCE (enabled by default) should allocate I frames well enough for you.

Yeah, that's my experience too. I've done quite a bit of DV conversion to DVD format. It automatically recognizes scene changes and starts a new GOP. It works pretty well.
