Hi there,

I've got a fairly old movie to encode from the 1960's, convolution3d isn't helping to increase compressibility much, so I've decided not to use it in this case. But I notice when I do a compressibility test with soft-bicubic, compressibility increases by 10%.

Here are what appear to be my best options:
528x224 Soft Bicubic 62.0% quality

496x208 Neutral Bicubic 62.1% quality

I'm seriously considering Soft Bicubic for this 1960's Epic (Cleopatra).

Any reason to think otherwise?

This really comes down to your personal preference. The soft bicubic will soften the picture more than neutral will BUT you do get a larger resolution which may make it look better when you watch it full screen. Try a chapter with each and compare which you like better.

i'd go with soft bicubic on this occasion. Maybe choose 512 res instead of 528 too for higher compression value.

The accompanying need to crop even more to preserve AR is why I chose 528.
