I've asked the Pioneer support if the DMA problem for DVR-A03 and A04 might also occur with the new A05 (which would be fatal, since 4x DVD-R speed is not possible in PIO mode).

Answer (only contents, and more straight-forward than the original, most of you couldn't read original answer anyway :sly: ):

The DVR drives are made according to the corresponding specifications, but some motherboard manufacturers appearently don't care about these specifications.

You should use mainboards and chipsets that follow these specifications, such as Intel 850 chipset boards, but no VIAWell, I couldn't run my DVR-A03 in DMA mode on a MSI board with Intel BX chipset, but i'm sure MSI was the fault in that case, not Intel...i hope.
