I've been succesful with my conversion for 5 or more DVDs, except for some occassional errors mainly due to not enough HD space. my only dilemma is, it took 30 hours or so to convert each movie. is this normal? below is my computer specs.

Pentium II - 450
192 MB Memory
HD - 6 GB Free

I am using Tmpgenc as my encoder, and build image is not checked, i just use nero to burn mpeg2 movies.
Are there any turn-around for these, are those "encoding test" necessary each time or it can be skipped.

thanks,

With the hardware you got there I'd say it's normal. However you can change the speed a bit. Deselect 44100->48000 in the audio tab, Use "Motion Estimate Search" in the encoder tab.

dvd2svcd,
thanks for the info.. can you fill me in more..
what's the difference unchecking "Downsample 44100->48000 in the audio tab, so is selecting "Motion Estimate Search" in the encoder tab.
will it affect the quality of the video & audio?

Not downsampling will improve the quality of the audio, as well as decrease encoding time :)
