A friend of mine is capturing old 8mm film from the 1970's, with no sound. He wants to capture to MiniDV, then author to DVD disk. He has a borrowed device that is made for this. The 8mm is projected onto a mirror, then the mirror projects onto a semi transparent surface, the MiniDV camera records the image off the back of that surface. The problem is, he is getting flicker. To the eye the projected image is perfect, but the MiniDV camera is seeing a flicker, like video flicker. You can see the flicker right in the MiniDV LCD screen without recording even. The flicker is numurous times a second. Does anyone know what is causing this?
