I do de following

1. rip the movie with "dvd decrypter" to my hdd. (with stream processing)
only the movie, no menu, no extras!
2. use ifoedit to create new ifo files

now I have the following files:
VIDEO_TS.IFO + BUP
VTS_01_0.IFO + BUP
VTS_01_1.VOB
VTS_01_2.VOB
VTS_01_3.VOB
VTS_01_4.VOB

the movie plays perfect on my standalone (PIONEER DV-535)
but NOT on the PS2
--------------------------------------------------------------------
I've read that I need a VIDEO_TS.VOB !!!
so I copied one to my the VIDEO_TS folder and wanted IFOEDIT to "get vts sectors" but IFO edit returns an error, that in my IFO file, there are no menu options detected...

my question is: how to add a VIDEO_TS.VOB to my project? or am I missing something?

The problem seems appear on my Roadstar standalone DVD player.
I hear that some players don't play disk without VIDEO_TS.VOB files (without menu files).

My PS2 can read DVD-R without VIDEO_TS.VOB. So it seems a media problem.

I can also play disk created by this method on a PS2 so can confirm that it's a media issue, nothing to do with the missing vob files.

The file structure you've shown is all you should have if you've created a movie only with no menus.

I've run into situations with diferent computers that don't play DVD's well, either with PowerDVD off the hard drive or off the disc itself, but the discs work well in standalone players.

The only true indication I've found I can trust is if the file set plays properly in IFOEdit's DVD player, then it will work properly in a standalone player, which is all I worry about.

You don't need the vob file you asked about.

well well...

IFOEDIT: plays the disc
STANDALONE: plays the disc
PS2: does NOT play the disc

but it CAN'T be the disc! I have several PS2-GAMES and they work perfect. and if I create a dvd from scratch with scenarist it also plays on my PS2... only if I rip a disc then it does not work on my PS2... strange, isn't it!

You could send the *.IFO files created by scenarist and ifoedit
to derrow. Let him find the differences.

Do you burn all these with the same burning software?

@David Hwang
that's a good idea... I will... but not @ the moment. I have some other things to do :)

@DenFussell
Yes, I only used Nero 5.5.9.9 (and now 5.5.9.14)

in ifo-edit 0.95 I checked the obtion: "create empty menu table"
and at the end I clicked "get vts sectors"

now the dvd plays find in my PS2 :)

thanx derrow ... for your great tool!
