Ok here goes....Why does i have to do a singelpass vbr first and encode and then do a multipass later??? i dont get it....takes me 2 hours to do single and then 2 more hours to do multi :(

the single pass creates the .vaf file so you can use the advanced vbr settings before the multi pass, if you arent manually adjusting the bitrate to match the Q graph, then you can just do a multipass vbr.

There are those who believe a single pass with CCE, if done right, is enough to produce a high quality encode. I am one of those people.

Agreed, but the reason so many Doom9 members use the longer method is that it allows you to squeeze longer films (or even two films, in some cases) to the limited capacity of a DVD-R with potentially higher quality than single pass, because you can *strategically* add more bitrate only in very isolated portions of the film, which won't add as much to the final file size as a global-bitrate increase would do.

Both methods have their merits. I generally use single pass, but if my source footage is particularly demanding, or is particularly long, I use the multi-pass method to get the best possible bitrate allocation for a finite disk capacity.

In short, if you are happy with your single-pass results, then carry on as you are ("if it ain't broke- don't fix it!") :)
