View Full Version : Advice needed for Verbatim DVD+R with Philips DVDRW228

Hello,

I'm trying to burn my own DVD video. With Ulead DVD Moviefactory I created the Video_TS directory and I burned the directory with Nero 5.5.9.9 in DVD Video format on a Verbatim DVD+R (datalifePlus) disc. I didn't use the multi-session option and let Nero finalise it directly. After burning the DVD I let Nero verify the written disk. I always (3 times in a row) got an error says that some files are inaccessable and some files have read errors. I already tried setting UDMA to PIO mode but it didn't solve the problem.

Who can help. If possible, can Nero also burn the DVD+R at 1 speed instead of 2.4 speed? I now only have the 2.4 speed option.

Burning a Philips DVD+RW disk gave no reading problems.

I'm using Win2K
My system specs are:
SS51G
Intel P4 Northwood 2.4 GHz @ 2.5 Ghz
Corsair 512 MB XMS3000 (@ 176 Mhz memory bus, Ultra mode, CAS 2T)
IBM 60Gb @ 7200 rpm
IBM 60Gb @ 7200 rpm
Philips DVDRW 228
Hercules Radeon 9000 (128 MB)

Thanks in advance

Nero can do every speed your writer supports. I think you have wrong thoughts about writing speeds!
Nero asks the burner "what speeds can you do?", and the burner will answer "only 2.4x"...and this is what Nero shows.

Thanx Alexnoe,

I think all return the DVD writer tomorrow in order to repair it. Hopefully it won't take long before it get it back. My two HD of 60 gig each are nearly full..

Hi Alexnoe,

I contact the shop where I bought the Philips DVDRW228. The said they were aware that people had a lot of problems with +r discs.

They offered me to replace my Philips with a Sony DRU 500 with no extra charge! :)

So now I can also burn -R discs. :D
